Villa Matilde is a rural hotel located in eastern Sierra Morena (northwest of the province of Jaén) in Andalusia, north of the city of Andújar. The accommodation is easily accessible by car.
Villa Matilde is located in the Sierra de Andújar. This park is part of the Sierra Morena mountains. In the park two large reservoirs with beaches can be found. There is a great variety of herbal plants like lavender, rosemary, thyme, cist rose and myrtle. Especially the fauna attracts many nature lovers: raptors like the Spanish imperial eagle, red and fallow deer, wild boar, otter, wolf, ibex and Iberian lynx belong to the permanent residents of the park.
The mountains are easily accessible for both hikers and mountain bikers.

In the mountains of Andújar appeared in 1227 La Virgen de la Cabeza, the Virgin of La Cabeza, to a shepherd from Granada. Still these days, the last weekend of April, Spain's oldest pilgrimage is organized to celebrate this appearance. The cult of the virgin was highlighted in the work of writers such as Miguel de Cervantes, Lope de Vega and Calderón de la Barca.
Villa Matilde itself has played a role in the history of the Spanish Civil War. The holes in the tiles of the walls are silent witnesses of it.
